Troop 7401,
The month of October is a season of change. The weather gets colder, and the colors of fall blanket the landscape all around us. For the Christian, October is etched in history because of the action of a devout Augustinian Monk by the name of Martin Luther.
October 31st, 1517 marked the beginning of the “Great Reformation.” Luther challenged the ruling class on Christian doctrine by nailing his writing “Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences,” or more commonly known as the “95 Thesis” on door of the Wittenberg Castle church. The effects of his actions lit the fuse of change in Christendom.
This month Trailmen are encourage to read or watch the story of Martin Luther. There are several resources available online that can provide further insight of this saint who put it all on the line for what he believed. We can all learn a great deal from Martin Luther – his faith, life, and legacy will undoubtedly remain a source of encouragement for the Christian disciple.
